Description

Acrylic with interference pigments on grounded MDFBoard, 80 x 60 cm

This is one of my larger dragon paintings. I used  blueish and greenish interference pigments to enhance the shine of the scales against a completely matte background.
So here again, I had great difficulties to take a decent photo. I tried it countless times myself, finally gave up and consulted a professional photographer, who made this one here. It is much sharper and has more depth than my own attempts. Still, it needed a lot of photoshopping to get the colours right. ( The colour of the background seascape is less intense in the original painting, though...)

The dragon portrait itself is a reminiscence to my love for the Atlantic ocean, as I know it from countless holidays at Brittany, France, during winter and spring time. I could watch the dramatic, often rainy sky and the tumbling jade green waves for hours on end...
I do not plan if the beast is male or female when I start painting - it occurs in the course of working. This time, it´s a She-Dragon, I think ;) (Wink)

Absolut faszinierend!
